Infineon Technologies AG has reinforced its global and regional leadership in the automotive semiconductor industry, particularly excelling in the microcontroller segment. According to the latest market research by TechInsights [1], Infineon captured a 13.5% share of the global automotive semiconductor market in 2024, maintaining its position as the world's top supplier for the fifth consecutive year.
In Europe, Infineon rose to the #1 spot with a 14.1% market share, up from second place in 2023. The company also expanded its presence in North America, securing the second-largest market share at 10.4%, improving from third place the previous year. In the microcontroller segment, Infineon increased its global market share to 32.0%, widening the lead over its nearest competitor by 2.7 percentage points.
Infineon also remains the leading automotive semiconductor supplier in China and South Korea, with market shares of 13.9% and 17.7%, respectively. In Japan, it held a solid second place with a 13.2% share. While the global automotive semiconductor market slightly declined by 1.2%, shrinking from $69.2 billion in 2023 to $68.4 billion in 2024, Infineon continued to strengthen its position across all major regions.
Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer of Infineon's Automotive Division, commented:
“We are proud to be the global market leader in automotive semiconductors for the fifth year in a row, with equally strong results across every region. For the first time in Infineon’s history, we rank among the top two automotive semiconductor suppliers in all key markets. This success reflects the strength of our product portfolio, our commitment to outstanding customer support, and our focus on meeting customers' specific needs.”
Infineon’s semiconductor technologies play a vital role in driving automotive digitalization and decarbonization, helping to make vehicles cleaner, safer, and smarter. The company serves all major automotive applications, including advanced driver assistance and safety systems, powertrain and battery management, and in-cabin comfort and infotainment. A major focus area is supporting the transition of electrical/electronic (E/E) vehicle architectures toward centralized, zonal designs, which are foundational for software-defined vehicles. This shift requires advanced connectivity, data security, smart power distribution, and real-time computing capabilities.
Asif Anwar, Executive Director of Automotive End-Market Research at TechInsights, added:
“TechInsights’ Automotive Semiconductor Supplier Market Share Ranking confirms Infineon’s leadership for the fifth consecutive year, with microcontrollers playing a major role in that success. ADAS-related semiconductors—especially SoCs and memory—were among the top-performing product categories. Infineon excelled in the microcontroller space used for ADAS and many other applications. Even as the overall automotive microcontroller market declined by 8.2% year-over-year, Infineon increased its share by 3.6 percentage points to 32.0%, maintaining a strong position in this crucial segment.”
